Get to Know Me – Introduction

Get to Know Me – Introduction

Who is Daewyn? Is that even my real name? How am I as a person? What do I do in my spare time? All this and much more will be answered over the next couple of months in this series called “Get To Know Me”. So, who am I? Well, I’m a civil engineer with a master in energy engineering, and I currently work with building permits. And no, Daewyn isn’t my real name, but I’ll get to the story…

Wrapping up 2017 – and a few thoughts for 2018

Wrapping up 2017 – and a few thoughts for 2018

Let’s wrap this puppy up! So 2017 is done and I’m starting 2018 with a reflection post. This will be a wall of text, so be warned 😉 When I first started thinking about what to write in this post, back in November, I was very negative and sure this was the year for everyone else – my big brother got a kid, my husband finished his master’s degree, my parents returned from the States and got a house, my…

2016 wrap-up – things I learned, and goals for 2017

2016 wrap-up – things I learned, and goals for 2017

Happy new years! I hope you had a good night, with lots of laughs and other joyous things. The husband and I spent the evening at home, just the two of us, with some good wine and food. Apparently I drank too much, and was miserable the entire day after, which is why this post is only getting done now 🙂 Being a new year, I thought it would be nice to write down what I’ve learned this year, and…

‘Murica: Corn dogs, amazing burgers, beautiful views, and much more.

Our summer vacation this year was a 2½ week trip to the states – specifically San Francisco where my parents moved to last year. Kim had been there before, as a teenager, so he could recognize surprisingly much in the area (I was impressed – I can barely remember the vacations my family took me on as a child). We rented a car for a week, so we could take trip to South Lake Tahoe. I don’t think I have…

This time last year: Honeymoon!

This time last year: Honeymoon!

At the end of June/start July, Kim and I went on our honeymoon. We took a roadtrip to Sweden – first stop was Norrköbing. Generally speaking, Norrköbing is a pretty boring city. The only reason we were there was to go to the Bråvalla Festival, which is close to the city. We had a day ticket so we could go see Sabaton, which is an amazing, Swedish, Power/heavy metal band. We spent most of the day at the festival site,…

This Time Last Year: Getting Married!

This Time Last Year: Getting Married!

On June 6th 2015, Kim and I tied the knot! Holy balls, I felt like such an adult. We had been planning this day for several months (with the incredible help of my wonderful mother – the planning would have been much more stressful without her) and now it was finally here! We were so incredibly lucky with the weather – several weeks before (and several after) it was cloudy, cold and/or raining, but on our wedding day it was…

KIKO haul from Italy!

KIKO haul from Italy!

Last weekend I went to Bergamo, Italy, which is a city about an hour from Milan. The trip was paid by my work, since it was a social bonding type deal, where we would get to know each other better – I figured, why not tag along (if nothing else I could see some pretty things, and buy some new makeup, since I knew KIKO is from Italy). I only brought carry on baggage, so I couldn’t shop that much…

This time last year: Wedding makeup trial

This time last year: Wedding makeup trial

My wedding day was slowly getting closer, so I did a trial run for my makeup. Both to get some practice with doing false lashes (this was my first time trying them) and to minimize the choices I had to make on the day it self, since I am terribly indecisive. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, so this test was just to be sure it was do-able for me. I made a soft, smokey, rose…

Getting settled in

Getting settled in

Finally the boxes are all unpacked or taken to the basement! We are as close to being settled in as possible right now. There is a single box left, but it is full of pictures that needs to be hanged on the walls – so we just need to figure out where they should go. We still need to buy some furniture, like a desk for my makeup, a cabinet for the bathroom, a smaller cofee table etc. But that…
